Carbon-Footprint Analysis
E3Tec has developed Life-Cycle Analysis (LCA) of chemical synthesis processes based on C-footprint analysis. The Excel-based model is interlinked with ASPEN Plus® simulation via the Process Block Diagram (PBD) as depicted by the schematic for conversion of CO2 to dimethyl carbonate (DMC). C-footprint of Inside Battery Limits (ISBL) and Outside Battery Limits (OSBL) process components are clearly defined allowing optimization of the process configuration for improved energy efficiency. This is achieved by thermal integration, process intensification and application of heat pump for recovery of process heat. E3Tec routinely applies this C-footprint model to evaluate the techno-economic merits of process development as well as thermal management of industrial processes for improved energy efficiency.
